Pipeline Projects
Venture philanthropy implies evaluating many more projects than we fund.
Rigorous evaluation of potential and an assessment of capability and likely outcomes are a key aspect of our screening process, ensuring that if funds are deployed they create clear impacts.
The following are projects in development. We have not committed funds, but we are working with the organisations involved to help shape concepts and plans, in advance of taking those with real potential forward for consideration for funding and further support.
Parent Power
Supporting a local community organisation, drawing on delivery models and approaches from the USA and Paraguay, in scoping a proposal for a direct/ participatory grant funding pilot programme for deprived families and communities in Oxford, understanding that it is parents themselves who can be encouraged to take control of addressing their own issues.
Blackpool
We are engaging with the Blackpool Pride of Place partnership to explore options in the town. We are working with key members of the Council and local voluntary sector, to develop concepts that could be trialled in the Claremont ward in Blackpool, one of the UK’s most deprived areas.
Social impact through music
Drawing on the increasing body of research that shows the importance and impact of music on the academic and social development of young people we are:
Supporting a music charity on a proposal to develop and scale up an initial, successful pilot creating the capacity, capability and confidence of teachers to include singing as part of the day-to-day life of their schools, particularly in the most deprived areas where it is likely to have the most impact.
Working with an education trust, exploring the concept of ‘Musicians in Residence’ - professional musicians supporting and developing the sustainable and successful provision of music within schools. Similar to the Sports Enrichment Officer role already in place in some schools.
